Does God want to write your love story? Well, maybe not—especially not if it is the culture's romanticized ideal of happily ever after! Margaret and Dwight Peterson help us sort out the difference between how our surrounding society often depicts marriage and how Christians really should approach this particular gift of God to all humanity. They guide us through many aspects of a growing, maturing marriage including being a family, handling conflict, friendship, children, household economics and weathering the transitions of life. In the end they show how Christian marriage is far deeper and stronger than a romantic fairy tale. In fact, it reflects the kind of love God has for us in the gospel of Jesus Christ who gave his life for us that we might have his life in us.

What are you waiting for? Do you find yourself waiting for the right moment? The ideal relationship? The perfect job? Are you waiting for your “real” life to begin? Do think that the gifts of life are right around the corner? That one day you will arrive and everything will be okay? Do you endlessly search, yet never seem to find? Through the sharing of authentic personal stories and profound life lessons, Kristen Moeller explores our pervasive human tendency to wait for life and to look outside ourselves for answers. So we don’t try; we give up. We sell out and we forget who we are. We are afraid to succeed, afraid to fail, and afraid to say we are afraid. But as Wayne Gretzky said, “You'll always miss one-hundred percent of the shots you don't take!” Kristen Moeller's mission in life is to inspire you to get on the path, move forward and take the shot.

Part of the Protestant Pulpit Exchange, this book contains popular preaching material on 10 of Jesus' parables as found in the Gospel of Matthew. Trotter says that the single most important assumption for contemporary preaching on the parables is that parables are metaphors--a means to see something we do not yet have the eyes to see. Parables ought to do for us what they did for those who first heard them.

From East Africa of 1950s/60s comes this cleverly crafted story set against the backdrop of Hollywood and Bollywood films. “Pictures that had the dances of Helen, the dance queen of Bollywood were box office hits. We fought to get the closest seat to the screen in the third class . . . because our eternal hope was that when Helen did her dance whirls and her umbrella skirt fanned out we would be able to see her naked legs. Alas, Indian heroines wore baggy pantaloons underneath, unlike Marilyn Monroe in Some like it Hot.” Dancing with Shadows will touch every heart that has tasted the elixir of love and faced its challenges. The weekly visits to local cinemas to watch the latest releases of romantic pictures satiated the emotional highs of love often denied in real life by restrictive social norms. Where are the narrator’s escapades to the cinema and his recurring dreams leading him to? His journey will bring into sharp focus the alchemy of love that is at work in every heart.

When the brothers board the ship, they embark on a journey that will take them from the salons and bordellos of Enlightenment Paris to the desolate far reaches of the North Pole, in search of scientific truth and knowledge. As they encounter such characters as the loquacious Voltaire and the irascible King Stanislaus of Poland, and attempt to escape Russian enemy fire and the condemnation of Portugal’s Cardinal Conti, Alexandre hopes to find his calling in life, while his brother keeps his eyes on the Passarola’s next horizon. A delightful picaresque tale filled with evocative period detail, Azhar Abidi’s debut is not only a story of adventure and suspense, but a thoughtful book on the nature of truth, and a heartfelt portrait of the relationship between brothers.
